Business Profile

Humanistic Counselling & Psychotherapy Unfortunately, because life can become very challenging and difficult at times. Are you struggling with an emotion or psychological problem? Would like things to be different? Is this problem new or been there for too long? You may be one of those people, who's personal problem keeps repeating itself again and again.  A pattern that you recognise as the ‘same old, same old'.  Either way, you do not feel right in yourself and longing somehow for things to change. Trying to talk to family and friends has been okay but it does not feel it is not enough for you.

Therapy (whether Counselling or Psychotherapy) can help you make sense of your problem, issue or circumstances. This could enable you to see things more clearly and able to make important decisions that before may have been difficult or even seemed impossible.  Seeing your choices in a new light, potentially helps smooth the way to a more contented life. Having someone to see things from your perspective and bring to your attention what is happening in your world.

I truly believe people have an inner core strength and potential to embrace, make choices or changes for themselves.  Therapy is about supporting people to explore, identify and potentially understand the problem.
As an experienced Humanistic Therapist, I provide the environment for Clients to explore what is happening in their world.  I do appreciate entering into therapy is sometimes not an easy thing to do. It does take personal courage and commitment from the Client, as well as being in the right frame of mind to face their problem.

Just having the opportunity to talk to someone, who really listens, can help make the difference for them, to look at ways of enhancing their life. Clients I have worked with over the years, have experienced this in their own way. Sometimes challenging choices have been made, to move their life forward, because they understand themselves much better. However, what is fundamental to support this process is the ‘Therapeutic Relationship', that needs to exist between the Client and the Therapist in build a trusting and safe environment without the Client feeling judged or shamed.
As everyone is different, I work in a ‘Relational Need' way, using a blend of Counselling and Psychotherapy theories and techniques, that I am trained in. This allows me flexibility working with Clients by using one or often more than one style to explore the problem.  I am trained in Transactional Analysis (TA), Gestalt Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Attachment theory and Person-Centred Therapy.  I also like to incorporate my own creative style approaches, including images, metaphors, dreams, two chair work, objects and artwork.  This style can potentially allow Clients to express themselves in a different way other than using words, that still has meaning. I work very much with the unconscious part of the Client. The part often Clients often do not initially connect with, but when explored, can help them understand the problem, something they can then connect with, which is meaningful.

Please remember, there is no obligation at this initial stage.  However if you would like to find out more about the professional experience I have gained over the years in the way I practice, then please contact me (Please see below for details). I will be happy to talk things through with you.

Integrative Humanistic Therapy

I trained at Wealden Psychology College Institute in Crowborough in October 2009 and qualified in October 2012 as an Integrative Humanistic Therapist. The training course was accredited by the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy), of which I am a current Registered Member.

The counselling and psychotherapy styles, techniques and approaches that I am trained include; Person-Centred Therapy, Egan Skilled Helper Model, Transactional Analysis (TA), Gestalt Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Developmental Attachment Theory. This enables me to professionally 'Bespoke' the sessions by either using a blend or a specific the way of working depending on the Clients wants and needs, whilst exploring their problem.

I attend a variety of training workshops, experiential weekends and courses throughout the year. This continued learning and exploring new areas of knowledge, styles and approaches within therapy and mental health furthers my Professional and Personal development, which I believe is an essential part of my life's journey.

As an experienced Humanistic Therapist in Counselling & Psychotherapy, I work with Young Adults 16 years+ and Adults. I provide Clients with a confidential, safe environment for them to explore the problem and difficulty. I do appreciate Therapy is sometimes not an easy thing to do. It does take personal courage and commitment from the Client, as well as being in the right frame of mind to undertake this.
Just having the opportunity to talk to someone completely impartial who really listens, can make the difference for someone to begin to move in a more positive direction of their own choosing. In my opinion, Therapy is much more acceptable today, because of what it can offer people. Clients I have worked with, have experienced this in their own way by understanding themselves more without being shamed by Others. However, what is fundamental to support the Client's process, is the Therapeutic Relationship between them and the Therapist, in providing a confidentiality safe place to explore the problem within a non-judgemental, empathic and a supportive environment.
As everyone is different, I use a blend of Counselling and Psychotherapy theories and techniques, because in my opinion no one style approach fits all. I use Transactional Analysis (TA) therapy, Gestalt therapy, Cognitive Behavioural therapy (CBT) and Person-Centred therapy to connect with Clients to embrace what is happening in their world. I also use a creative styles and approaches, incorporating pictures, metaphors, sandtray, two chair work, objects and drawing. This can allow Clients to explore themselves in a different way, which is still meaningful. I work very much with the hidden parts of the person to help them to find a language that enables Clients to still connect with themselves. This part often helps and supports Client's understanding and the choices they now have to potentially move forward. All sessions are Client led, so that means I work at the Client's pace.

I run my own private practice from my home, where I have my own Soundproof Therapy Studio, in a quiet part of Pevensey Bay. There is easy parking, as well as a local bus stop within a few minutes walking.
Please remember, there is no obligation at this initial stage. However, if you would like to find out more about the professional experience I have gained over the years in the way I practice, then please contact me. I will be happy to talk things through with you.

Thank-You
